Il Regalo Dell'Imperatore
A pasticcio of music by Haendel and Monteverdi assembled by Ralph Daniel Rawe (La Nouba), music adapted by Benoit Glazer (Cirque du Soleil). The classic roman tale of friendship and love between Nero, Ottone, and Poppea, retold in a new way. All killer, no filler. Ralph has done a great job of assembling segments of recitatives from twenty operas to create a libretto that is concise, precise, and powerful. Intense, emotional music, played by a 12 piece chamber orchestra composed of some of the better musicians in Orlando. Masterfully sung by David Walker (who has an international career and has sung throughout the world, includin at the Met), Ralph Daniel Rawe (La Nouba), and Michelle Amato (Yanni). The opera was performed in concert form at the Timucua Concert Series, and is likley to be produced soon. Baroque Opera at it's best!
